“You are a girl and you are not supposed to stay out so late.”
“You must have done something to provoke his anger.”
“Ladki ho, bade sapne mat dekho.”
These and many comments are an inseparable part of any woman in India. They are constantly reminded of being ‘a woman’. Although the times are changing, however; there is a lot to change in India as a country and first is people’s crude, sickening mentality towards women.
Deepika Padukone is all set to tell the story of acid attack survivor ‘Laxmi Agarwal, in her upcoming movie ‘Chhapaak’ directed by Meghna Gulzar. The story is inspired by Laxmi’s life who left no stone unturned to make other acid attack survivors’ life normalized with her unbreakable spirit and battle to stop ‘acid sale’ in India.
The prosthetic makeup and Deepika’s powerful acting makes this movie promising for sure. Dialogues like “Hamle hamesha unhi ladkiyon pe hue hai jo ya to aage padhana chahati thi ya fir aage badhana chahati thi” makes Laxmi’s story powerful and convincing enough that her story will reach to every Indian household for a better change in people’s mentality.
It’s high time to change people’s acidic thoughts towards women and Chhapaak will bring that change!
